Banff National Park located in Southern Alberta is one of only a few National Parks in Canada. Located only 110km west of Calgary, Banff encompasses 6,641 kilometers of the most beautiful and awe inspiring mountainous terrain in North America. Nestled deep in the Bow River Valley, Banff contains numerous glaciers, ice fields, forests, and alpine lakes. Since Banff is a National Park, wildlife viewing is one of the most popular activities and many different types of animals are known to roam free. Elk, bears, coyotes, wolves, sheep, deer, mountain goats, and many more can be seen by visitors from almost any part of the park - even in the downtown core.
