Indoor features include a moose skin boat, a dugout canoe, a rare collection of stone and bone tools, a beaded slipper collection, and traditional outfits. The town of Carmacks is a short two hour drive from Whitehorse on the junction of the North Klondike and Robert Campbell highways. Carmacks is a great jumping off point while exploring the Yukon. While visiting, be sure to walk the Nordenskiold ridge and view the First Nations spirit houses (please be kind and respect their culture) or take a tour through the community or along the boardwalk. After your day of sightseeing, no visit to Carmacks is complete without enjoying a wonderful view of the aurora borealis without the usual big city light pollution.
