Algonquin, Hailstorm Creek Wildlife Viewing

Opeongo Lake is the largest lake in Algonquin Park. The Hailstorm Creek Nature Reserve area offers excellent wildlife viewing, particularly for moose.

This unique program allows day-trippers to explore Hailstorm Creek without having to worry about paddling on the big lake - a water taxi transports people and canoes safely from our store to the mouth of the creek in 20 minutes. The trip price includes canoe rental, all safety equipment, water taxi transportation and bag lunch.

This trip is available only at the Opeongo store. Basic itinerary:

• Morning departure: Participants should arrive at our Opeongo Lake store before 9 am. The water taxi leaves the store at 9 and will pick you up at 1:30pm. Please contact us for complete details.

•Afternoon departure: Participants should arrive at our Opeongo Lake store before 1 pm. The water taxi leaves the store at 1 and will pick you up at 5:30pm. Other times are available – please contact the Opeongo Store for complete details.

Dates: Available any day throughout the season (May-Oct.). Self-guided trips are available without reservations. Guided trips are by advance reservation only. You do not need to book any permits or make any extra arrangements for canoe rentals. An Algonquin Park day pass is required for parking.

Cost:

• Self-guided: One or two people, $79.98 per person, plus taxes. Three or four people, $59.98 per person, plus taxes. Five or more people, $49.98 per person, plus taxes. This price includes bag lunch, water taxi service, canoe rental and all related canoeing and safety equipment.

• Guided: above rates apply plus $50 per person guide fee (two person minimum for guided trips). To reserve: Self-guided trips are available without reservations. We require a $25 per person deposit to book the guided trip.
