Set on 7,630 square kilometres, Algonquin Provincial Park is the largest park in Ontario and one of the largest in Canada. Comprised of towering forests, pristine lakes and rives and rocky mountainous cliffs, the park is nothing short of natural beauty. Once the home of Canada's aboriginal people, Algonquin Park now offers a protected environment to allow the rest of the world to see the wilderness that once spanned all of Ontario.

The park offers visitors many options including full-service campsite or true back-country camping experiences. For those who enjoy canoeing, Algonquin offers some of the best waterways imaginable. Algonquin Park has an assortment of trails to offer everyone of every level. From mountain biking, a multi-day hike into the interior, or a casual walk through the forest, you can find a trail that will exhibit the beauty of Algonquin Provincial Park. For the nature and animal enthusiast, the park also is home to over 53 species of mammals, 31 species of reptiles and amphibians, 272 species of birds, and approximately 7000 species of insects - don't forget your bug spray!

How to get there: Highway #60 runs through the south end of Algonquin Park. The East Gate is located just west of the town of Whitney. The West Gate is located just east of the town of Dwight. In addition, there are many other entrances to the park that run off highway #17, highway #11 and highway #60.
