Allan Gardens is one of the jewels of Toronto’s downtown public open space system. The City of Toronto recognizes the value that this green oasis in the urban core contributes to the liveability of Toronto.

Allan Gardens Conservatory is almost 100 years old and has over 16,000 square feet of greenhouse area. It contains tropical plants from all over the world from Palm trees to cacti. There are also seasonal plantings throughout the year. From mid-January to the end of March the spring show of bulbs are displayed.

Since 2000, the City of Toronto has been working with community members to develop a vision for revitalizing Allan Gardens Park and Conservatory as a major landmark and tourist attraction. The 2002 Heritage Conservation Management Study for Allan Gardens set out guidelines for conservation of the site components and park improvements.

In June 1971, I traveled with a missionary couple to be and their four young children to Canada to be the children's caregiver while the young parents attended Victoria University for linguistics before going to Brazil. I was 19 at the time. We lived in a duplex belonging to Jarvis Street Baptist Church. The front entrance to the duplex was on Horticultural Avenue directly across from Allan Garden Conservatory and Park. I am now 57 years old, and I still think it is one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen. The duplex was three stories. One could look out over this park from the third story window. It was a great view.

garden landscaping nowadays has become a great trend and there are many techniques to do so, using natural materials is very good because it adds a lot of color and mixture, my garden by Atlanta landscaping only uses natural materials and is very beautiful, a garden with flowers will give you a great happiness which I have proudly experienced
