Anderson Farm Museum
Anderson Farm is a fully restored turn-of-the-century dairy farm that offers visitors a look back to a time when horse drawn machinery and windmill generated power were the standard. Spanning over 14 acres of the Sudbury area, the Anderson Farm Museum is a beautiful history lesson.
Anderson Farm was the site of one of the largest dairies in the Sudbury area in the 1920's and 1930s. Visitors to the museum can explore the farmhouse, the barn, and the milkhouse where the Anderson family lived and worked while operating the dairy.
The Anderson farmhouse has nine rooms available for public viewing including the kitchen, the parlour, the bedrooms and the dining room. Each room is decorated with period furnature and decor including an antique Singer sewing machine that is operated by a foot pedal.
In the main dairy barn which was built in 1916, visitors can view a variety of farming exhibits including the stanchions, where the cows would have been held for milking. The top area of the barn, once used for hay storage, has since been converted into a large theatre area available for private functions.
In addition to the original structures from the Anderson Farm, the Creighton log cabin was relocated to the museum site to help preserve history of the town of Creighton. Creighton became a ghost town in 1987 when mining operations were halted and this log cabin now serves to preserve the history of the ghost town and mining in the area.
