The Art Gallery of Ontario - AGO - is an internationally recognized Art Gallery located in the heart of downtown Toronto. Already one of the largest art museums in North America, the Art Gallery of Ontario is now even bigger! In 2008 the gallery underwent a massive architectural transformation by architect Frank Gehry to become itself a work of art.
The AGO is currently home to over 68,000 works of art in 110 galleries from 100AD to the present. The collection includes works that highlight Canada's art heritage since pre-Confederation including one of the largest Inuit art collections in the world. In addition to Canadian art, the AGO also has thousands of famous works from world renowned artists from Europe, the United States, Africa, and Asia.
If you are a fan of the arts, The Art Gallery of Ontario is a must visit while in the Toronto area. For a limited time, admission is free on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8:30pm.
