Calgary Zoo

The Calgary Zoo was established in 1929 and is currently the second largest zoo in Canada. A world-class facility, the Calgary Zoo is focused on education and conservation efforts in relation to the world's wildlife. The zoo's exhibits are divided by continent to best represent the global regions in which they habitate. The 7 main regions include:

  • Canadian Wilds - exhibits include grizzly bears, bisons, wolves, and moose
  • Destination Africa - exhibits include lions, tigers, zebra, and girrafe
  • Eurasia - exhibits include macaques, Siberian tigers, snow leopards and asian elephants
  • Australia - exhibits include wallabies, bearded dragons, kangaroos
  • South America - exhibits include spider monkeys, anteaters, Andean condors and pygmy marmosets
  • Botanical Gardens - six acres of gardens showcasing plants and flowers from across the globe
  • Prehistoric Park - exhibits life in Western Canada millions of years ago when dinosaurs rules the earth
