Arguably one of the most famous beaches in Canada, Cavendish Beach in Prince Edward Island is a popular travel destination year after year for millions of people. Located in the community of Cavendish, the beach expands for 8km from Cavendish East in the east to the entrance at New London Bay in the west.
Located completely within the boundaries of Prince Edward Island National Park, Cavendish Beach is divided into three sections:
- Cavendish Spit - A barrier beach at the entrance to New London Bay
- Cavendish Campground - A section of the beach near the campground for the national park
- Cavendish Beach Main - The most popular portion of the beach consisting of massive sand dunes, a boardwalk and public washroom and changing facilities.
If you have yet to experience the red sand and massive cliffs of Cavendish Beach, you should ensure to place it high up on your list of destinations as it's very much a "must do" day trip.
