Built in 1836, the Colborne Lodge is a picturesque cottage that was built by John & Jemima Howard who founded High Park. Today, Colborne Lodge presents visitors with a unique view back in time to Toronto's early days. The cottage is decorated with many of the original furnishings and artifacts including some of John Howard's own paintings depicting Toronto in the late 1800's.
John & Jemima were avid gardeners and John kept detailed records about their plantings. This information is used presently to recreate the gardens on the property. For this reason, Colborne Lodge is a favorite spring and summer destination for horticultural hobbyists.
Many times during the year, Colborne Lodge hosts special events including Easter egg decortating workshops, summer camps, Christmas wreath and centrepiece workshops as well as Doors Open Toronto.
