Dynamic Earth & The Big Nickel

Dynamic Earth in Sudbury is a subsidary of Science North and features interactive exhibits that showcase the areas geology and mining history. The facility is open from March to October and offers visitors a unique look at the sciences behind the world they live in. The Dynamic Earth features a glass elevator that descends 7 storeys into the earth where visitors can put on a miner's hat and experience mining first hand. This 45-minute tour offers a rare glipse at the earths interior and visitors will even witness a simulated dynamite blast.

In addition to the Inco Chasm Show and Underground Tour, Dynamic Earth also offers several display exhibits, multimedia presentations, and presentations by knowledgable staff. The MacLeod Rock Gallery showcases rocks, minerals, and geologist's tools and the Earth Gallery focuses on the formation of our planet and the the creation of the Sudbury Basin by a meteorite over two billion years ago.

The Big Nickel

Dynamic Earth is home to a world-famous Canadian landmark - The Big Nickel. This famous Sudbury momument stands over 30 feet tall and is a great photo opportunity for all visitors.
