The Elora Gorge is part of the Grand River Valley and it's 22 metre high cliffs tower over the Grand River as it rushes through below. The Elora Gorge conservation area offers visitors an array of activities including camping, fishing, swimming, hiking, cycling, and tubing. Riverside trails and scenic overlooks provide hikers with magnificant views of the river far below where kayakers and tubers make their way through the rapids.
Tubing down the river is a fun and exciting way to see the wonders of Elora Gorge. From the white water action to the magnitude of the cliffs above, tubing offers more than just a refreshing ride on a hot summer day. Tubing is permitted when river levels are at a safe and consistent flow and offers visitors a once in a lifetime opportunity to tackle the mighty Grand River and it's rapids. Equipment can be rented on site and a shuttle bus service for transporting tubers is available weekends only until 6 p.m. during July and August to take tubers and their equipment to a starting point up river. The decent down the river takes approximately 2-3 hours and visitors WILL get wet! Those concerned about the rapids should take note that the river is generally only a foot deep or less at most points.
It is advised to obtain current river level information prior to arriving at the park to avoid disappointment. Call the park office at 1-519-846-9742 for current information.
The registration and rental shop is open weekends only during May, June and September and daily from the last week of June through to Labor Day. Tubing operates between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Equipment can be rented until 5:30 p.m.
