Gastown is an area located in the northeast end of downtown Vancouver. Incorporated as a town in 1886, Gastown was the heart of wholesale produce distribution until the 1930s. Today, Gastown is a cultural mecha for the trendy, hip, and contemporary.
The area is home to fashion boutiques, restaurants, nightclubs, art galleries and tourist-oriented businesses. What makes Gastown a fantastic day trip is the atmosphere provided by the small trendy shops, the unique architecture - a mix of both old and new, and the San Francisco'esque charm. Don't forget to visit Gastown's most famous landmark, the large steam-powered clock which located on the corner of Cambie and Water Streets.
