Jacques Cartier Provincial Park

Jacques Cartier Provincial Park is located within the North Cape Coastal Drive touring region and is named after the island’s first European visitor that came ashore in 1534. Jacques Cartier remarked that this was “the fairest land ‘tis possible to see!” The park holds a celebration of this great discovery every July on Rediscovery Day.

Jacques Cartier Provincial Park is located 5km east of Alberton Park recreation and interpretive programs with evening activities, Playground equipment, ocean beach with lifeguard, Laundromat, kitchen shelter, and dumping station. The park offers visitors a wide range of activities for all ages such as nature walks, children’s games, and supervised swimming at the beach on the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Visitors can camp in the 22 acres of campground with 12 flush toilets, and 6 hot showers. Leashed pets permitted.
