Muskoka Heritage Place
Muskoka Heritage Place combines the attractions of the Huntsville and Lake of Bays Railway with those of Muskoka Pioneer Village to provide a fantastic day trip for the entire family.
The Muskoka Heritage Place comprises of the following attractions:
Muskoka Pioneer Village
Teleport yourself back in time through the heritage buildings of Muskoka Pioneer Village including a church, a blacksmith shop, a sawmill, a trapper's cabin,a period school, a general store, several pioneer homes, and an old fashioned inn. Throughout your visit you will enjoy the information and atmosphere provided by costumed interpreters.
Rotary Village Station
The Rotary Village is a museum featuring exhibits from the steamship era including videos, interactive displays and more.
The Portage Flyer
The Portage Flyer is a fully restored vintage steam train that takes passengers through some of the most picturesque routes in Ontatio along the Muskoka River. Once the 1926 steam locomotive arrives at Fairly Lake, passengers are encouraged to disembark and take in the beautiful panoramic view of the area.
Telegraph
Every Wednesday throughout July and August, volunteer telegraph operators travel to Muskoka Heritage Place to give rare demonstrations of telegraphs. Telegraphs were once a popular form of long distance communication involving telegraph stations and moorse code.
