Today, Niagara-on-the-Lake is home to many attractions including historic sites such as Fort George and the Historical Society Museum, the Shaw Festival, world class golf courses, parks, agricultural markets and last but not least, the world famous Niagara wineries. Visitors flock to dozens of these famous wineries, including those making the world's largest volumes of ice wine.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is located near where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario in the Niagara Region of southern Ontario. It is located across the Niagara river from Youngstown, New York and is only a few minutes from Niagara Falls. The town is home to the Shaw Festival, a months–long series of theatrical productions featuring the works of George Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is a town chock full of historical plaques and visitors can spend hours travelling historical site to historical site without travelling more than a few kilometers.
