Rocky Mountain House

Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site of Canada protects the archaeological remains of fur trading posts while presenting the site’s history.  In 1799 the North West and Hudson’s Bay companies set up rival posts and the end of the fur trade line on the North Saskatchewan River.

Rocky Mountain House allows visitors to follow in the footsteps of the fur traders and explore the historic site to imagine what life was like there 200 years ago.  The site provides numerous outdoor activities such as Biking, Fishing, Interpretive Trails, Indoor Exhibits, On-Site Exhibits, Canoeing, and Kayaking.  Visitors can do some picnicking, Bird & Wildlife viewing, as well as Hiking/Walking.
