Sulphur Mountain in Banff National Park offers visitors two ways to the top - via the Banff Gondola or with two feet and a heartbeat up the moderate 5.3 km switchback trail. Once at the top of this mighty mountain, visitors can enjoy the amenities offered at the Banff Gondola Upper Terminal including a bite to eat or a view from the massive observation deck.

Sulphur Mountain's peak (Sansons Peak) stands at 2,451 m (8,041 ft) and can be accessed by taking a 1 km boardwalk consisting of 367 stairs. At the peak visitors can discover the Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Ray Station. This site was used to study cosmic rays during 1957 and 1958. Today, the site stands as a National Historic Site.

For the best experience possible, try to head up on a nice clear day. This will give you the best views of the rocky mountains and the Town of Banff below. Remember that you will ascend thousands of feet of altitude and the air will be much cooler at the top compared to down below so don't forget to bring a jacket, even on hot summer days.
