Beaver Creek is located at Kilometre 1,934 (historical mile 1202) on the historic Alaska highway very close to the Yukon/Alaska border. Beaver Creek is Canada's most western community and is also the home of the White River First Nation. In the early 1900s, Beaver Creek was established as a camp for the team surveying the Canada-Alaska border but soon shifted to a mining community in the 1940s.

This town offers several opportunities for tourists to visit historic mining sights as well as plenty of wildlife and nature. Visitors to Beaver Creek should visit the Tourist Information Centre which is operated by the Department of Tourism and Culture. The centre is open daily, mid-May to late September.
