Well as much i know its situated among fields, there is a mountain called Mount Royal from which we can see far away. Its called gem of St. Lawrence.winter is very hars, but summer is very inviting had a great festival, so i suggest you to visit during smmer, have a nice trip:D
A few other things you may want to do:
-Take a day to visit the Mount Royal (it's the big (but rather small) mountain in the middle of the city). There's a park at the top and a whole bunch of activities to do, and a loooootttt of walking.
-Visit some of the churches and basilicas (The Saint-Joseph Oratory is rather impressive. It's the biggest church in Canada, I believe.)
-Visit the McGill University downtown campus. Although I may be totally biased, some of the buildings are beautiful and well worth a look. You'll probably go by the gates anyways if you're walking on Sherbrooke St, so you might as well go in.
Take an afternoon to stroll around the Old Port. There's always something going on. You can walk along the water, go shopping and have a nice dinner. There's also the Science Museum nearby, maybe the kids would enjoy it.
The Biodome, the Botanical Gardens, the Insectarium and the Planetarium are all nice places to visit with kids, depending on what your interests are (they're good for rainy days).
There's a couple of art museums situated downtown, which might or might not interest you. Here's a few to get you started: the Fine Arts Museum, McCord, Contemporary Art and the Red Path Museum (on McGill University campus).
La Ronde (the biggest amusement park in Montreal) is a must if you have kids old enough and/or teenagers. They have fireworks every Saturday during the summer, so you may want to check if they are still going while you're visiting.
