Butter Pot Provincial Park is located along the Avalon Peninsula and spans an area of approximately 2833 hectares. The term "butter pot" means a "prominent rounded hill" and as such, Butter Pot Provincial Park is named after Butter Pot Hill which is found within the park territory.
The park offers visitors many options for activities including access to 175 campsites, picnicking, fishing, hiking, swimming, canoeing, and cross-country skiing during the winter.
