Fort McNab National Historic Site of Canada
Fort McNab National Historic Site of Canada was once the most powerful military fortification in Halifax. Built in the 1880s, this strategic gatekeeper of the Halifax harbour served as a counter-bombardment battery in both World Wars. Located along the southern tip of McNabs Island, Fort McNab National Historic Site of Canada provides visitors a glimpse into past maritime military history including access to a network of old roads and trails across the island.
