The Rothney Astrophysical Observatory is located on a hilltop in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the University of Calgary's Rothney Astrophysical Observatory (RAO) is a facility dedicated to expanding our knowledge of the Universe and educating the public about the wonders of Astronomy. The site provides an unobstructed view of the entire night time sky and by day, the site provides stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. Drive south on Macleod Trail, go west on hwy 22X for approximately 15 minutes, turn south on hwy 22 for 2.4km, the RAO is located on the east side of the hwy.
