S.S. Klondike National Historic Site of Canada
S.S. Klondike National Historic Site of Canada is a large sternwheeler that has been dry-docked on the bank of the Yukon River in Whitehorse. The S.S. Klondike was desginated a national historic site of Canada to help commemorate inland water transportation in Yukon and to represent the traditional Yukon steamers and vessels of it's era. First launched in 1937, the S.S. Klondike was operate as both a freight and passenger vessel on the Yukon river up until 1955. Today, the ship was been fully restored to it's original glory by Parks Canada and is open for public visitation and supported by professionally guided tours.
